Adorned Smithing Co.
My name is Emerson Graves and I craft wearable adornments out of my studio space.
I create small-batch, handmade, narrative jewelry inspired by the natural world and my adventures in it. My work, simply put, is meaningful, bold, and intricate. I take influence from traditional methods of fabrication, western stamp designs, and American Mined natural stones. My designs are carefully thought out with hand-selected stones to represent the terrain, atmosphere, colors, flora, and fauna of the landscape. Since my work comes from personal but relatable experiences in the outdoors, each piece tells a unique story.
With my own two hands and the use of my tools, I design, stamp, saw, file, form, solder, sand, and polish each piece to fruition. They are all raw, one-of-a-kind, and built to last the ages.
This one-woman shop was born out of the need to leave behind my legacy as an artist. A quote from author Chuck Palahniuk resonated with me from a very young age: “We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” This has been my drive for crafting quality, handmade jewelry. And because of this, my work is imbued with years of practice, mindful artistry, and my whole heart.
When I’m not working away at my shop bench, I spend as much time as possible with my family and playing outdoors. I have a wonderful husband Nate, an adorable son Everett, two pups, Bean & Olive, as well as a few hilarious chickens. Living in Marquette, we are so fortunate to be so close to Lake Superior and to the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula. Adventuring outdoors is at the core of my heart, whether is day hiking or backpacking, fishing or foraging, skiing or snowshoeing, I’m out doing it. All of these adventures fuel my inspiration and keep my cup full so I can come to my studio and continue to create for you.
